Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Zakirrah and I am new blogger who loves to read. I have a thing where I jump from hobby to hobby for example from painting to sewing to knitting and so on, but reading has always been something that has been constant in my life. I love to create as the example states anddd I am addicted to tea!

What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?

I have always wanted to run a blog but I never really thought about exactly what type of blog I wanted to run and never would I have thought one day I would end up running a book blog! I started reviewing on goodreads and then thought and saw other people with their blogs and I thought ahh why not? Lets create a blog!

What is your favorite part of running one?

I love getting to read some awesome books before they are released and giving feedback to authors. I  enjoy chatting to new and old authors and discussing their books and more.

What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop?

Usually I read at night I swear it’s the only time that my house is quiet and peaceful. Most of the time it’s a mad house and even though I try to squeeze some reading in through the day night time is the best time for me. I sometimes stay up way too late when the book is brilliant and I can’t put it down.

Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in?

I love both my ebooks and paperbacks. With eBooks its easier to have them with you at all times and you can fit alot of them in but still you can’t beat paperbacks and the smell of new/old books (is that weird? Book smeller?)

Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?

Omg I love my series I just want them to go on forever. You get to know a lot about the characters and they feel like they are a part of you and you are fully immersed in their life. I do read stand-alones but in the end I always want more!

Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?

Well I love to create as I said that goes from drawing, painting, sewing, knitting, DIY projects and much more. I love going for long walks which I haven’t done for a while..its freezing outside! Oh I love learning magic tricks and card games rock. Also love to find out anything psychology related and enjoy watching documentaries on serial killers (I swear I am not preparing for when I suddenly become one 😉 lol I have always wanted to know why? Why they commit such crimes and what is going through their head at the time.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Everywhere! I would love to travel the world but then again who wouldn’t? I have always wanted to go to Italy or Spain they both look so beautiful but again there are just so many others I would like to visit!

If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book?

I have to choose only one? How is that fair or even possible? Can’t I have them all?

Oohh I will list some because I just can’t choose one.. Ryder from Fae chronicles by Amelia Hutchins, Colton from Driven By K.Bromberg, Christian Grey from 50shades, Daemon from Obsidian By Jennifer L Armentrout , Asher from Love thy Neighbour by Belle Aurora and if I don’t stop now this list will be so damn long!

What was the series in childhood that got you hooked on reading? For me, my mom forced me to read Little House on the Prairie for school which I ended up loving, and then I found the Redwall series and I just never stopped!

Hmmm I would have to say the Harry Potter series I fell in love with the books and picked up more books because who doesn’t want to get away from reality once in a while?

Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?

I read books at home I used to love visiting the school library and getting lost in books but I preferred reading on my own and in a place I felt more comfortable.

Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!

Ahhh I can’t do that I like to give one book all my attention or else I would end up getting mixed up and not enjoy any of the books!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hello! I’m Nikki and I run Ramblings From A Chaotic Mind book blog. I’m a 32 yr old mother of two in small town Northeastern Ohio. I work a full time job Monday-Friday and have recently added a part time job on weekends. Yeah, I’m crazy. I know.

What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?

My cousin came to me one day after watching Twilight for probably the millionth time. She said “If Meyers can write a book, so can I…will you help?” This lead to me doing some line editing for her and joining Twitter (follow me @NikiBrandyberry) at her insistence that all the cool people were hanging out there. Before I knew it I had signed up to blog about my life and the books I was reading, authors were asking my opinion and I was doing a bit of freelance editing before the real editing for other people.  It grew from there and now here I am, 3 years later. Oh, and my cousin? She now has several published books. 🙂

What is your favorite part of running one?

Other than getting to read lots of awesome books? I’d have to say meeting authors and other bloggers. There is nothing better than conversing with other people who know how your head works. Some of those conversations are going to my grave with me. Of course steering like minded readers towards other books they may not have heard of it great too.

What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop?

I read anywhere and everywhere I can but the majority of my reading is done one of two places. In my office chair at my full time job (I love my job because it allows me to read in my downtime) OR on the couch in my reading room…also affectionately called “the library”. However I’ve been known to read in line at the bank, at the grocery store and through every gymnastics practice for my daughter. “No, mommy didn’t see you do your dismount, it was unfortunately during the climax of my book…..”

Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in?

Both. I have five full bookcases and a Kindle with probably 500 books…or more. Yeah, probably more. There are times I simply crave the smell of a paperback…and yes I literally sit there and smell them. But there are so many authors nowadays that are only releasing e-books….so I’d be missing out on them if I was stuck on only physical books. I didn’t fight it at all. Reading is reading no matter what you pick up to do it with.

Favorite book of all time?

That’s like asking me which child is my favorite. Can’t be done. Next question.

Coolest author you ever got to meet/work with?

Cherry Adair…hands down. She’s the nicest, funniest, most generous person I know. I adore her writing, but more than that, I adore her as a person. Seriously, she’s awesome. I feel lucky to now call her a friend instead of simply a acquaintance. Go read her books. You’ll thank me later.

Tell us about the woman (women) behind the mask? Err blog!

Ugh. I don’t know. I hate talking about myself. I guess I’ll go with the fact that I’m quirky and slightly OCD. I’m afraid of policemen, I don’t like crowds and I’m much better online than in person until I get to know you. I often ramble about books to anyone who will listen. I’m snarky, laugh at the most inappropriate times and can pretty much turn any sentence into sexual innuendo.

Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?

I’m not big on long drawn out series because it often takes the hero and heroine FOREVER to get together. I like series that jump from couple to couple while still progressing the overall story arc.

Last book you read and how did you rate it?

Well by the time this comes out I’ll probably have read another 5-10 books, but as I’m writing this the last book I read was Autumn In The Vineyard by Marina Adair (no relation to Cherry Adair lol) and though I haven’t wrote the review yet it will be getting 4.50 stars. I really enjoyed it! I love small town romances and Marina Adair’s St Helena Vineyard series is really well done.

Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?

I have no time for anything else. I pretty much work, taxi cab my kids around and read. That’s it. I do enjoy going to the movies though and try to get there at least once in awhile. I also love singing at the top of my lungs in my car..much to my kids dismay. Running a blog is like having a second full time job. It takes a lot of time and effort. Heartfelt time and effort. You have to seriously love what you do.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Europe. Since I’ve never even been to Canada I’d say Europe is never going to happen…but if money grew on trees that’s the first place I’d head. Specifically Italy and then I’d branch out from there.

If you could meet any author, who would it be?

Maya Banks. I adore everything she writes. I had the opportunity to talk to her on the phone recently and it took everything in me to remain professional and ask her book related questions instead of things like “will you be my best friend?” I try not to embarrass myself…key word is try.

I’d also love to meet Juliana Stone. We chat constantly online and I think we’d really hit it off in person. Either that or I’d freak her out. We talk about beavers a lot. Yep. Beavers. I’d explain, but really, I think it’s better that I not. Juliana’s writing just touches me on a level I can’t explain.

If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book?

Ok, so I know that most people are going to say Christian Grey, Gideon Cross, Jericho Barrons, Kane “Tack” Allen, or Chris Merritt….but I’m always one to change it up…although, let’s be honest, I’m not turning down a date with any of those above guys. Panties would be dropping faster than they could ask me out. BUT…I’m going to go with Zadist from J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series (Lover Awakened). I’m not all fangirl over those books, but Zadist, damn…he can come get me any time he wants. I will heal all his pains. YUM.

Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with?

I think I could be friends with pretty much anyone in the contemporary romances. They’re always such sweet, supporting women. While I love to fantasize about me dressed all in black leather kicking ass alongside the urban fantasy/paranormal romance/romantic suspense ladies…in reality I’d be the first to die. Or they’d be saving me. Either way…terribly embarrassing.

Is there a fiction genre you just can’t seem to stand or get into? For me, heavy science fiction is just a no-go.

I can’t do historical romance. Just can’t do it. I enjoy western romances on occasion but when I say historical I mean regency romance for the most part. I find them so boring that by the end of the first chapter I’m already looking for another book to read. Luckily I recently brought on two more reviewers for the blog and both Pam and Michelle enjoy historicals. 🙂 Win-win for me.

When I say favorite book cover, what’s the first one to come to mind – since I know there probably can’t be just one?

My brain just exploded. I can’t even think to pick one.

What was the series in childhood that got you hooked on reading? For me, my mom forced me to read Little House on the Prairie for school which I ended up loving, and then I found the Redwall series and I just never stopped!

The first series I remember reading with any conviction was Babysitter’s Little Sister followed quickly by The Babysitter’s Club and later Sweet Valley High and the Fear Street Series. I used to go to the library and check out at least 15 books at a time. I have no idea where I got it from either because my mom is not a reader. I suppose at one time my grandmother was though because I distinctly remember a box of books in her hall closet that had Fabio all over the covers. 🙂

Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?

I don’t think I’ve ever been labeled “the quiet girl”. Heh. But I most definitely always had a book with me and had no problems reading in class.

Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!

Usually I’m only reading one or two at a time. If I try to read more than that my slight OCD rears it’s ugly head and I start feeling like I HAVE to finish them…now. I get overwhelmed. If I’m reading two at one time they are never the same sub genre. So I can read a Cynthia Eden para-rom at the same time as a Maya Banks romantic suspense but I can’t read a Jill Shalvis and Keri Ford contemporary together. Make sense? Yeah, it doesn’t to me either….but it is what it is. Like I said…I’m “quirky”

 Favorite book to movie adaption?

Anything that has Nicholas Sparks name attached to it. That man knows how to do simple, emotional, contemporary romance. Even if he does do “fade to black” sex scenes GRRRR. Nicholas, write me some raunchy stuff! That may change once the 50 Shades movie comes out…lol…while I was just “eh” about the books, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t uber curious if they will do the tampon scene. You know the one. Don’t lie….you do.

Crazy chaotic

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a avid book lover, obviously. And I seriously might be slightly obsessed. I’m a 25 year old mom of two crazy, chaotic babes! I have been married for five years, and I swear my husband thinks I am crazy from how much I read! & I adore Sheraka, my CCBB buddy, without her, my book obsession wouldn’t be able to be share with all of you crazies!

What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?

It was actually Sheraka’s idea. She asked for help doing a blog and I thought what the hell, why not?! I was too chicken to start one on my own!! I love it though. Connecting with the readers & authors is so fabulous! They are amazing and they really make doing this blog a lot of fun!!

What is your favorite part of running one?

My favorite part is probably connecting and talking to the authors. I love getting to know the people behind the book. Some of the authors are beyond amazing, and seriously hilarious!!

What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop?

Favorite place to read is in my bed, curled up when everyone else is a sleep. It’s probably why I am up until at least 2 am every night. Coffee & sugarfree Rockstars are my god send!

Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in?

I ADORE my kindle!! Love it. Best thing ever invented!! I have a hard time picking up a paperback now, but I still love them! And I love getting signed ones in the mail, they are so pretty. Almost too pretty for me to read!!

Favorite book of all time?

This has to be a trick question! How do you choose one?! Can I pick three? 😉 Ummm.. For me, I would probably have to say Fifty Shades of Grey, I freaking adore Christian Grey! Who doesn’t?!! And next would be Collision Course by SC Stephens, that book was amazing and powerful! That woman can write!! And last but not least, I love the Mending Hearts series by L.B. Simmons. That woman is a literary mad genius! She can captivate a reader like no one I have ever seen! So there you have it, my top three!!

Tell us about the woman (women) behind the mask? Err blog!

Well since I am a nutso and didn’t tell you before, my name is Jessica! 🙂 I run most of the admin aspect of the blog, and sometimes review. Sheraka does most of the reviewing! That woman reads faster than anyone I have seen. But I want to say a majority of our work behind the scenes, we do together. It’s a very nice 50/50 partnership in this blog we have!! It’s amazing and fun and I wouldn’t want to stop doing it for anything in the world! Well……. maybe my very own Christian Grey but that’s about it. 😉

Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?

I think it really depends on the story! I hate cliffhangers so stand-alones are nice for that!! But I do love a good series, I love getting more in depth with the characters and feeling like you know them! I think a good story is hard to find. Once you find it, savor it, no matter if its a series or a stand alone!!

Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?

I work, I am a cocktail server at Red Robin… YUMMMM. I hang out with friends, I don’t do much besides reading! I get too consumed with all the great books that are out to have much of a life outside of that!! 🙂

If you could meet any author, who would it be?

Well I have met a few already, at the author signing I went to in Seattle. Tina Reber is a HOOT. That woman is hysterical! Tara Sivec was amazing too. She is a damn cool Tramp! 😉 But if I could pick someone to meet, I would have to say L.B. Simmons or M. Leighton, they have both been amazing anytime we have ever needed anything for the blog and I just think they seem like some kick ass ladies! I honestly would love to meet a bunch of authors! Pick their brains, get in their heads, get to know the masters behind such incredible stories!

Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with?

I would probably want to be best friends with Eva from Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan. Eva is one badass bitch! Also, maybe America from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire! She was such a good friend to Abby, I know she’d be a good friend to me! 😉

When I say favorite book cover, what’s the first one to come to mind – since I know there probably can’t be just one?

First book cover that comes to mind for me is Hopeless by Colleen Hoover or Very Bad Things by Ilsa Madden-Mills. A book cover says a lot about a book in my opinion. And those two books are very very good books with very good covers!

Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?

I was the little girl hiding under the blankets at night with a flashlight reading in bed! I never really advertised how big of a reader I was to everyone, the people who were closest to me knew! But other than that I was the girl reading at home in secret!!

Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!

I try to stick to one at at time. Especially if it’s a book that draws me in! Too many books at one time would confuse the poop out of me! 😉

Favorite book to movie adaption?

Probably the Hunger Games. That is such an amazing series and so far the movies have been amazing too! I love how everything in the book I loved is in the movie! Great Series!

Crazy chaotic

Tell us a little about yourself!

I have been reading books since I was young and would get in trouble for reading so much and staying up late. Reading was my get away whether I was reading “A Light in the Attic” or reading anything by Edgar Allen Poe. I love poems so it opened my eyes up to a lot of things. I have a 13 year old son and he reads just as much as I do, if not more.  I always wanted to have a blog so I was so grateful to have someone who loves reading just as much as me enter this journey!!! Jessica 🙂

What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?

Jessica was the only person that wanted to do this just as much as me, don’t let her fool you 🙂

What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop?

I get up before work and read, I fall asleep reading, I lock myself in rooms just to read. (Dont’ tell), but I have gotten off work and called in early for new releases 🙂

Coolest author you ever got to meet/work with?

We’ve had so many authors reach out the us and authors that we have reached out too and every single one have been cool so we can’t say that one is “cooler” than the rest

Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?

I don’t like long drawn out series unless there is a story line.  I love  them all so I would have to say I love good books whether they are stand alones or series

Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?

I do alot with the PTO at my son’s school, I volunteer as much as possible and starting soon, I will be a “sports” mom again!!

If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book?

Wow, can I just say all of them? I honestly can’t pick one character. We have so many great authors who have AWESOME characters in their books. If I had to pick one, I would pick Christian Grey.

Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with?

There are so many book girlfriends that I would love to have but if I had to pick one, I would have to say Indie from Rock Chicks!!

Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?

I was the girl who would get picked at for reading. My mom believed in timed reading when I was in elementary school so once I started on my own, I read openly.

Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!

I try to read one at a time but there are times  when I can’t get into a book so I start another one and try to go back to it.

Favorite book to movie adaption?

I would love the see the Crossfire Series made into a movie and me pick Gideon (lol)

1.Tell us a little about yourself!
I am a young 50 year old female. I enjoy reading a great book that I can get lost in. If the book is a 5 star to me it will play out as a movie in my mind as I read.

2.    What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?
I joined a street team and my news feed on my personal facebook page was just getting over whelmed with postings.  So I started a book blog page and it has taken off! I have received over 500 likes in two months!
3.    What is your favorite part of running one?
I love being able to help authors reach more readers. My favorite weekely postings I think are the Author Spotlights

4.    What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out         and about at a coffee shop?
My favorite time to read is when I have a quiet house lol! I will read any where as long as I can sit comfortable!

5.    Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in?
It was strange at first reading on a Kindle. I wanted to turn the page that was not there. Now I am a massive clicker for books off Amazon!

6.    Favorite book of all time?
Hmm, this is a hard one…. I have one for almost every genre! But if I have to choose one I choose Genesis by Kristie Cook.

7.    Coolest author you ever got to meet/work with?
Kristie Cook is the coolest author I have ever worked with, she is a doll
8.    Tell us about the woman (women) behind the mask? Err blog!
I am a easy going and that love to help people.

9.    Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?
I love books that are in a series!  It makes the story seem like it never ends! The worst part is waiting for the next book!

10. Last book you read and how did you rate it?
The last book I read was The Lost Trucker and I rated it a 5!

11.  Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?
Reading and Blogging are pretty much all I do anymore….

12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Europe and see many of the old towns that are rick in history.

13. If you could meet any author, who would it be?
I have a few I would love to meet, I cannot pin it down to just one

14. If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book?
I would love to go on a date with Ziggy from The Lost Trucker

15. Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with?
I could see me being best friends with Alexis from the Soul Savers Series by Kristie Cook

16. Is there a fiction genre you just can’t seem to stand or get into? For me, heavy science fiction is just a no-go.
A book that is nothing but Erotica

17. When I say favorite book cover, what’s the first one to come to mind – since I know there probably can’t be just one?
Dark Promise

18. What was the series in childhood that got you hooked on reading? For me, my mom forced me to read Little House on the Prairie for school which I ended up loving, and then I found the Redwall series and I just never stopped!
I started out with The Nancy Drew Mysteries and The Hardy Boys lol! Next I was onto John Soul and Steven King!

19. Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?
I read at home, but did not keep it a secret

20.Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!
If I try to read more than one at a time, I get confused on what is happening in what book lol! So I stick to just one at a time.

21. Favorite book to movie adaption?
Any book by Robin Cook!

  1. Tell us a little about yourself! Hi my name is Tonya, I am a single mom of two amazing kids and have a real passion for reading which started my hobby of blogging which started my now exploding hobby of hosting tours for indie authors LOL. Between running from work, to my daughters softball games (for 2 teams) and practices to preparing for my sons upcoming wedding and taking care of some truly amazing indie authors my life stays on overdrive.

 2. What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog? I was reading a book, honestly don’t remember the name of it now because there have been so many, but posted a two paragraph comment of it on my personal Facebook page and someone told me I should put up a blog. I thought hmm I used to do a website for genealogy back in the day with my mom, I could do that, and I did, and it exploded so fast I can’t even keep up most days. LOL

 3. What is your favorite part of running one? Getting to meet so many amazing authors and fellow bloggers.

 4. What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop? Where ever I can get my hands on my kindle and have a minute or two, lol I really am not kidding I have to fit my reading in where I can anymore. My kindle goes everywhere with me, and I mean everywhere. I have taken to saying I have to use the bathroom just to read a chapter in a book especially if it’s a good one that I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

5. Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in? Well I think my giveaway is above I like the kindle for the simple fact if I finish a book I don’t have to wait until I get home to get another book, I can just go to my books tab and go through the now over 700 books I have and pick the next one I want to read. I can’t answer to the second part of your question not sure I know anything about the kindle to book transition.

6. Favorite book of all time? Oh I don’t think I have just one really. But when I read a book if it really touches me, moves me, reaches right in and grabs me I save it to my favorites and when someone asks this question I give my list I promise only a few its long ROFL:

Knotted Roots series by Ruthi Kight (Knotted Roots & Hidden Falls)Today Only but D. Love Loves Second Chance by L.P. Dover The Borderland Legacy Series by Samantha Holt (Borderland Bride, Borderland Beauty) The Angels Assassin by Samantha Holt Anything by Cambria Hebert (Recalled, Charming, Tease, Torch) Shattered Grace by K. Anne Raines Anything by Rene Folsom (Shuttered Affections my all time fav by her, Bind Me, Heart You, Share You) – she writes amazing erotica The Shadow Warriors Series by Stephen England (Nightshade, Pandora’s Grave & Day of Reckoning)Anything by Trista Jaszczak (Little Red, The Shoe, Loverboy The Intangible Series by J Meyers (Indomitable, Intangible, Imaginable) The entire Fatal Series by Marie Force (Fatal Affair, Fatal Justice, Fatal Consequences, Fatal Destiny, Fatal Flaw, Fatal Deception, Fatal Mistake) Maverick by Anna Cruise

7.  Coolest author you ever got to meet/work with? Well that would be Ruthi Kight and Samantha Holt. I am Ruthi’s PA and love that woman like a sister. And Samantha oh wow she can write and is the sweetest most amazing person ever. I have never met either in person but sure hope to one day. But then again when you have a list of favorite books like I gave above I find all authors pretty amazing.

8. Tell us about the woman (women) behind the mask? Err blog! Oh man that could be a very loaded question really. I am a military brat, father served 16 years Coast Guard I followed though I chose the Army and served 8. Single mom of 2 great kids as I stated above. I run an army group for those who served at the same base I did (my first assignment) in Germany, caught up with old friends and met a lot of new ones. Of course now I run my facebook page, my blog and help authors promote their work. My sister and her son live with me so between them, my daughters softball, my son and his fiancé/wife (depending when you read this lol), work I do not have a moments rest. LOL but I love my life and don’t regret a single moment of it. Now hand me a martini I need a drink after all that LOL – would you like one too!!!

9. Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions? Wow um hmmm it really depends on the book itself, if the book has an excellent ending that doesn’t leave you questioning or wondering about anything stand alone is great. Samantha Holt has some really amazing stand alones. Today Only by D. Love is another great stand alone (if you haven’t read this warning – major tissue needed but very life and heart moving). But if a book has unfinished business, unanswered questions then series it is and the second had best be better than the first LOL.

10. Last book you read and how did you rate it? Well the last one I finished and reviewed was “Shuttered Affections” by Rene Folsom and gave it a 4.5 stars ABSO-FANTASTICALLY-AMAZING book – I am still trying to convince Rene to let me borrow Mr. Stone for a night or two or three lol. Hot, Hot, Frigging Hot. And I just finished reading HERS by Dawn Robinson and will be doing my review here shortly giving that another 4.5 stars – holy hotness on this one – super kink and erotica in this but lordy that Levi is one hot stud muffin – LOL

11. Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life? LOL actually SOFTBALL sums up my life, then book related things oh and my sons wedding (which is November 3rd) my life is a roller coaster lots of ups and downs oh my poor tummy ROFL but I love it, every moment of it. (I don’t sleep much – ask my intern Crystal she is always yelling at me to get sleep, so do Ruthi and Samantha LOL I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!)

12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Well first up to visit and meet Ruthi, then hop a plane to Ireland and Scotland homeland of my ancestors, then hop a train to England to pick up Samantha and have a personal tour guide on my trip through Europe – I would take my daughter with me because I know she would love it. It has always been my dream to go to Ireland (my family line has a branch connected with that amazing McGuinness beer – so you know I have to go there of course)

13. If you could meet any author, who would it be? Ruthi Kight, Samantha Holt, D. Love, Rene Folsom, Cambria Hebert, Stephen England, Trista Jaszczak just to name a few and my favorites of course

14. If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book? HOLT from TORCH (Cambria Hebert) but oh man does it have to be just one how am I seriously supposed to pick. I can’t I just can’t. Harry from Pandora’s Grave, now women he isn’t like the sexy hot swoon worthy guy but you have to remember my military upbringing which I love dearly and he is one hot stud of a operative. Nick Capuano from the Fatal Series – hell can I take out Sam and marry this man myself. Both brothers from the Borderland Legacy Series – Dominic & Jake – talk about hot highland studs yeah. I still can’t convince Samantha to share them with me. LOL, then there is the very sexy yet very tender and sweet Jett from Today Only oh if only there were real men in the world like him. To me he is the “PERFECT” man. He is a very strong man. Okay I will stop because my list could go on forever. There are just way too many.

15. Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with? Sam from the Fatal Series (Marie Force), Seven from Hers (Dawn Robinson), Juliana Peterson from Shuttered Affections (Rene Folsom)

16. Is there a fiction genre you just can’t seem to stand or get into? For me, heavy science fiction is just a no-go. I have a hard time with most dystopian and steam punk

17. When I say favorite book cover, what’s the first one to come to mind – since I know there probably can’t be just one? Two actually – Shuttered Affections (Rene Folsom) and Hers (Dawn Robinson) anytime anyone asks those two are first in my mind.

18. What was the series in childhood that got you hooked on reading? For me, my mom forced me to read Little House on the Prairie for school which I ended up loving, and then I found the Redwall series and I just never stopped! Actually growing up I didn’t read a lot. It wasn’t until I joined the Army and would be sitting in my ambulance at firing ranges hours on end that got me reading (and writing too) I read romance smut type books and wrote back then as well. Pssst the guys in my unit loved to sit in our platoon room after a 45 day stay in the field and read what I wrote. Somehow every story I wrote got snatched up. LOL I have dabbled a bit since but nothing that grabs ya worth putting out there – YET!!

19. Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret? Like I said I didn’t really read growing up but I read anywhere now I don’t care who sees or what is going on. LOL

20. Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one! You know there was a time I could have more than one going but with as busy as my life is I would so get my books mixed up, no wait I have, I have gone so far as to tell an author I loved XXX in their book and they are like HUH, WHAT. So yes I stick to 1 can’t mess up that way ROFL

21. Favorite book to movie adaption? I would love to see the Borderland Legacy series (Samantha Holt) the Fatal Series (Marie Force) the Shadow Warrior Series (Stephen England) or the Death Escorts series (Cambria Hebert) made into series movies and Loves Second Chance (L.P. Dover) and Today Only (D. Love) into standalone movies.

Tell us a little about yourself. My name is Ikelia, I’m 29 years old, born in but not raised in Miami, FL. My Dad was in the Navy while I was growing up so my family and I moved around, so whenever I’m asked where I’m from I say “everywhere.” I graduated from Florida A&M University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and have recently found a job working at a creative agency here in Atlanta, Ga where I currently reside. My favorite genres in books to read are Paranormal (anything), Erotica, Contemporary Romance, and Young Adult/New Adult.

What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog? Well after starting to read heavily I started meeting other book lovers when I discovered Facebook Release events and making friends. I started following Facebook pages suggested by them and then of course sharing on my page all this book related stuff and I think it was slowly irritating my regular friends because I was posting a lot. So then I decided and I think a few people suggested I just make a page for myself to share all my book related stuff. That is when I realized there was a whole world of book bloggers out there. I figured well hell I think I can do this and it will be fun and I will discover more books and at the same time keep my book related stuff at bay with my regular friends and still be able to go crazy on my Facebook page. When my Facebook page started getting a lot of likes that is when I decided to start a website for my book blog and alive came Bookoholic Anom: Confessions of an Obsessed Bookoholic Anomaly

What is your favorite part of running one? Discovering Authors, books and meeting new book people!

What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop? At home when I get off of work if I don’t have plans or during commercials while I’m catching up on my shows, or in bed at 2 am (literally). There is a sunroom in my apartment and it has a loveseat with a coffee table right next to it and skylights in the ceiling. I can see the entire apartment from there. It also has 3 big windows around it so it’s the perfect place to snuggle up and read when it’s raining or there is a nice breeze outside. Love it!

Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in? Kindle since I got it, but before that it was regular books. The transition was easy for me because I’m somewhat of a techie and love technology. I do miss reading regular books. A friend and I actually go to Barnes and Noble when we are bored or between activities and go smell the pages of books along with feeling the texture of the covers and the pages, and being that we are designers we love to look at all the beautifully designed covers, or critique them (habit). I actually told myself that I should start buying one or two books a week to get my regular book game up and also to start my collection of books. We will see how that goes…

Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life? I’m a huge movie buff, I go to the movies at least once or twice a week and if I’m not going to the movies I’m watching them online or on TV. I love to play pool, I’m not great at it and most of my shots are lucky, but I enjoy it. Going out to eat at new places around Atlanta. I will pretty much be doing anything and everything I can that sounds fun and interesting.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would actually want to just go overseas and backpack through as much as I could. I lived in Spain and Japan when I was younger and what I remember of it (which is a lot) and now that I’m older I think I would appreciate being overseas more. There are a lot of beautiful places overseas and I to pick one would just feel like I’m going to miss out on so much. So since I can’t decide on specifically where, I would just like to go overseas and spend a year backpacking through as many beautiful places as I could.

If you could meet any author, who would it be? Ah man I can’t just pick one…Top 5: Lacey Weatherford & Belinda Boring because their books were the first books I read when I first got my Nook Color last year and got me back into the swing of things after Twilight and The Sookie Stackhouse Series; Charlaine Harris ( I absolutely love the Southern Vampire series), Quinn Loftis (The Grey Wolves series is brilliant and same goes for her with getting me back into the game), Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, I love with all my heart, just as detailed as Harry Potter), and JK Rowling because I believe she would be as fun to talk to as her imagination is.  Okay and I have to say a number 6 because I can’t help myself: Abbi Glines because the Never Too Far series is just awesome.

If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book? River Wilde from Connected by Kim Karr – he was the first character to pop in my head because honestly there are a lot of them I would go on a date with.

Is there a fiction genre you just can’t seem to stand or get into? For me, heavy science fiction is just a no-go. Yea I would have to agree with you there. I’m not really into heavy science fiction either, and I’m not a huge fan of dystonia unless there is some kind of romance involved through out either, but if there is none of that I can’t do it. I’m a hopeless romantic so I have to have some kind of romance in any of the books I read.

Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret? I mainly just read at home, but it was never a secret. It just happened to be during the times that I wasn’t out with my friends or it was a book assignment and the book was actually one I cared to read.

avorite book to movie adaption?

The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling! I think it came the closest ever to the books that any adaption that I have seen, even though I only read the last two books of the series. Lol

1. Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Jennifer. I live in Louisville, KY. I have been happily married for 11 years. I have two sons, Matthew and Bryce. And in December I will be 32 years old! I don’t feel that old though. I seriously feel like I should still be in my 20’s!
2. What inspired you/caused you to start your book blog?
I originally started out helping a friend with her blog. And once I started putting together an author event I eventually stepped down and created my own blog so that I could ultimately try to read/review at least one book from each of the 40 authors that will be at the Louisville Authors Event in April 2014.
3. What is your favorite part of running one?
I love being able to share all of the great books that I’ve read! I was in a book store the other day and this teenager was in the young adult section trying to figure out what she wanted to buy next. I told her at least 10 books she needed to read! And she was so thankful!
4. What’s your favorite place and time to read? At home in bed at 2am? Out and about at a coffee shop?
The only time I usually do get to read is during lunch at work, but there are quiet moments when the kids have been tucked into bed, hubby is watching TV, and I get to just curl up in the chair in the living room with a pillow in my lap and my kindle on top. And I’ll read for a couple hours. Sometimes coming to bed way after my husband has already fallen asleep.
5. Kindle or regular book? How did you feel about the Kindle to book transition? Did you fight it at first or dive right in?
I do love the feel of a real book in my hands, but I love my kindle because it fits in my purse and goes everywhere with me! I have a whole library on there just waiting for me! If I finish one book, then I don’t have to carry a second with me. I can just pull up the next book on my kindle.
6. Favorite book of all time?
That’s like telling me to pick favorites between my two sons. I don’t think I have an absolute favorite, though I will name a few of them for you. One of my favorite series is the Kushiel’s Legacy by Jacqueline Carey. I loved the world she created. And two of my favorite indie authors are Jasinda Wilder and Abbi Glines. They both have a way with words!
7. Coolest author you ever got to meet/work with?
I’m going to have to pick more than one now. JD Rivera has been an inspiration to me while trying to figure out NaNoWriMo coming up. And I’m working with two other blogs to host a blog tour for Julie Morgan. That woman cracks me up!
8. Tell us about the woman (women) behind the mask? Err blog!
There are only two of us. There is me, Jennifer. Of course I told you all about me in question number one! The other chick that helps me is Wendy. She lives in Louisville as well. She’s happily married with two daughters (Teenagers at that! Pray for her!). She just reviews for me. She loves to read as much as me! The great thing is that we may have the same interest in things, but there are still different types of books that we each prefer. So we can cover a wide range of books between the two of us.
9. Do you prefer a bunch of quick, sweet stand-alone reads or a long drawn out series of epic proportions?
I actually prefer a long series. If I invest time with a character I’d like to spend more time with them. I don’t want it drug out with unnecessary info squeezed in between, but if it’s well thought out and the story lines flows then I love it!
10. Last book you read and how did you rate it?
The last book I read was Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan. I gave it 4 stars! I loved it. It was a very rough love story and I don’t think I’ve ever read the F word so many times! HAHA!
11. Aside from reading, what else do you do with your time? Or, like me, do things book-related pretty much sum up your life?
I love to do digital scrapbooking, which comes in handy with making graphics for things with the blog and authors event (so still book related). I am also the wolf den leader for my youngest son’s cub scout pack. And my husband is the assistant packmaster right now. He will be stepping up as packmaster next year. My oldest son is in boy scouts and I help out the troop a little bit with fundraising and stuff. So I have a pretty packed schedule!
12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to travel to Australia or New Zealand. I love their accents for one and it just seems like such an interesting place to visit!
13. If you could meet any author, who would it be?
I would love to be able to meet Jacqueline Carey. Some of the other authors I love I have already met or will meet in the future at author events. If only Jacqueline Carey were an Indie Author!
14. If you could go on a date with any fictional male character, who would it be, from what book?
I think I’d like to go on a date with Rush from Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines.
15. Who is a female character you could see yourself being best friends with?I could see myself being friends with Ariadne from “Of Gaea” by Victoria Escobar!
16. Is there a fiction genre you just can’t seem to stand or get into? For me, heavy science fiction is just a no-go.
Heavy science fiction for me too. I don’t like stories that include outer space, aliens, or space ships. I prefer fantasy if I’m going to go with the unbelievable.
17. When I say favorite book cover, what’s the first one to come to mind – since I know there probably can’t be just one?
I really like the cover of Crewel by Gennifer Albin. I think it’s beautiful!
18. What was the series in childhood that got you hooked on reading? For me, my mom forced me to read Little House on the Prairie for school which I ended up loving, and then I found the Redwall series and I just never stopped!
I started out with the Babysitter Club books and then moved onto Goosebumps!
19. Were you The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Reading, or did you mainly just read at home in secret?
I didn’t do a lot of reading in school. I was just considered a “goody goody”. I made good grades, talked a lot though, and was maybe slightly geeky? LOL! When high school rolled around though, it was a different story. I was always reading a romance novel my Junior and Senior year.
20. Do you always read several books at once, or just stick to one at a time? The running joke in my family when I was young was asking me how many books I was reading (usually at least five) and laughing when I could recite the plot for every single one!
I will usually just reading one book at a time, but there are times when I probably shouldn’t read a certain book at work. So I’ll have one that I’m reading at work and one that I read at home. Though I’ve been known to have as many as three books going at one time.
21. Favorite book to movie adaption?
Would you hate me a little if I said Twilight? HAHA! I liked it except for Kristen Stewart’s “no smiling or emotion” throughout it. I was mad when they didn’t get Eragon right. And Beautiful Creatures just didn’t have the characters I had in mind. If I had to pick one that I thought did the movie justice it would have to be Hunger Games.

Guardian Blurb

Lyla Evans just wants to be left alone; to fly under the radar and not attract attention. After seventeen years, she knows how the game is played. Her parents are hardly ever home, and when they do show up, they’re quick to anger and even quicker with their fists. With foster care comes the threat of being separated from her two younger siblings, and Lyla would die before allowing that to happen. She’s learned to keep her head down and depend on no one but herself and God to get by.

When a strange man starts paying too much attention to her and her siblings, showing up to rescue them and then disappearing without a trace, Lyla begins to panic that everything she’s been hiding is about to come out. But as she slowly becomes friends with Rafael and even trusts him with her deepest fears, Lyla learns he has secrets far bigger than her own that will turn everything in her world upside down.

In this story of abuse and rescue, love and faith, angels and demons, an unlikely friendship grows into a fantastical love story appealing and appropriate for readers young and old alike.
